JUMBLE! (I love that word.)

HELLO AGAIN, BETH!
(and hello imaginary audience! You might want to read this if you want to understand who Beth is and also other stuff)

First of all, I'm very happy you fixed your blog. What a weird thing to happen.

Second of all, I really, really liked your last post. You should share your jumbles of random thoughts more often. And that makes me think.  I really, really, really love the word jumble.

I enjoyed all your thoughts on creativity and Nerdfighteria very much, however, I am going to talk about a completely unrelated subject. Not right now though, right now I am going to say some stuff about those amazing names you suggested. I like them all very much, actually. I especially enjoyed the names relating to The Great Camping Debacle Which Proved That Beth Is Pretty Much The Best Friend Ever, as I like to refer to that particular adventure. Beth, we seem to talk about adventures quite a bit.  Maybe our name should be something like:
- Adventures in Being Imaginary
- Adventures in Never Being Able To Even (That one's kind of a joke. Kind of.)
- Adventures in Written Thoughts
- Adventures in Jumbling (I told you, I love the word jumble)
- Adventures in Nerdfighteria (I'm BOOORING)

Your names are much better. I do like the idea of just calling it, "The Thing" like,
WELCOME BACK IMAGINARY AUDIENCE AND ALSO BETH TO.... THE THING!!!!!

Now. On to the unrelated subject. Recently, I've been thinking about houses. And also the universe and the human race in general. I do this quite a lot actually, kind of force myself into this existential crisis until I'm unable to function properly and have to try to forget about all that stuff. It's kind of a problem. But anyway. Did she just say, "I've been thinking about houses?" is what you are probably wondering. Yes. Recently I have been thinking about houses. Let me explain, in what is most likely going to be the most confusing way possible.

So, we all live (or most of us do in North America) in what we call houses right? And essentially, these houses are just boxes. We live in boxes. And there are these rows and rows of boxes beside each other, often just a few metres away from each other. And we just, we all live in these boxes right beside each other and we're just going about our lives inside these boxes, pretending that when we are inside the boxes we are seperated from the outside world, BUT NO there are just thin walls seperating us from the world and everyone else inside their boxes, and IT'S JUST A REALLY WEIRD THING TO THINK ABOUT! It's like when I'm in a car, driving down a busy road, and all of a sudden I think, "All these other people inside their vehicles are human beings and have these lives and problems and sad memories and happy memories and hopes and fears and we're sharing this planet and this country and also this road." Which is sort of a weird thing to randomly think about while you're being driven to school.

I have many of these existential crisis-y thoughts, and I will continue to share them with you as The Thing continues. Stay tuned.

About the comic sans. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. That's worse that literally everything during the Egypt unit this year being in Papyrus.

As for my 3rd favourite colour. Probably this:

And now for your question, Beth. Do you ever have existential crisis-y thoughts? If so, (and I'm sure you do, almost everyone does) what kinds of things do you think about?

DFTBA!

The post in which I am not able to form coherent thoughts about your very hard question.

Hello hello hello Beth! The adventure continues!

I haven't been able to think of a great name, however I will keep trying. You are more creative and witty than I am, (don't deny it, you know it's true), so I'm thinking you'll probably be the one to have the revelation of The Perfect Name for the Thing. ANYWAY....

You asked me an  interesting question - I haven't quite made up my mind yet. For our imaginary audience, you might want to click here before continuing.

SO. In order for me to answer this question, I sort of have to have a definition of Nerdfighteria and what being a Nerdfighter is. Unfortunately, I don't have one that is formed enough to work with. That also makes me think about, if everyone was a Nerdfighter, does that mean that everyone acts and thinks "like a Nerdfighter" and likes "Nerdfighter Stuff"? Or does it just mean that everyone acts and thinks the way we do now, but is a part of the community of Nerdfighteria? It's hard to decide either way.

In the first option, we would still have all this stuff in common to talk about, and like together. But I think part of what makes Nerdfighteria such a strong community is that there are other people who aren't Nerdfighters. It's not like there's an Us vs. Them thing, but for a lot of people Nerdfighteria is a place to know that there are other people you can relate to. It's a place that kinda makes people feel special. I would, of course, love more people to be interested in "Nerdfighter Stuff", and then everyone could relate to everyone!  However I think it's important for there to be differences between people, obviously, and I think if everyone was a Nerdfighter we would sort of loose something. I don't know Beth, is this answering the question? I'm rambling a lot, I can't really figure out how to say what I'm thinking.

In the second option, I think that the world would be a stronger community, but I don't really think it would still feel like Nerdfighteria. So for a final answer, no, I don't think Nerdfighteria would still be Nerdfighteria. But I'm not certain.

No question for you today, Beth! You're free to write aboutvwhatever you would like!

DFTBA!

First Post! (Saying Hello, TFIOS, and Naming)

Hello Beth! Welcome to the first post of.........something.
That's my first question for today, Beth. Whatever do we call this thing which we are doing? We need a name! Let's think of something awesome.

Also, My blog looks really horrible compared to yours, but I'm working on it, okay?

Wait, should I explain to our (imaginary) audience what we are actually doing? Here's the quick version. We (as in me and Beth) are going to post on our blogs back and forth, addressing each other and replying to the other person's posts. There. Now everyone knows what's going on.

So, for my first post on this blog, I have decided to talk about, what else, but The Fault in our Stars.

As you most certainly know, I love tfios. As you also most certainly know, so do many, many, many other people. As I was looking through the Nerdfighteria forums, I came across a discussion about tfios becoming so popular / mainstream. Lot's of people said they didn't like that it was so popular, many others said they liked it, and most people said that they were proud of John, however, they wished the book had stayed a little more private.

So, my opinion. Tfios is an incredible book. Of course so many people were going to read it and love it. I'm very proud of John and his success. And I definitely am glad tfios did so well. Except.....sometimes stuff bugs me. Now there are all these people who have read the book that have no idea who Hank is, who Esther is, who the Vlogbrothers are, or any of that stuff. Which isn't a bad thing - that's not their fault. I discovered Nerdfighteria and the Vlogbrothers through tfios myself. What bugs me is when people don't understand the book and just dismiss it as a cancer book, or a love story. Which, yes, there is cancer and love in the book. But that's not what it is fundamentally about. I'm not saying everyone who reads the book and isn't a Nerdfighter or doesn't really like it is a bad person, it's just, just, just.... you know?  Do you?

So yeah, my question for you is, how do you feel about the popularity of tfios? And do you get what I mean about people not understanding the book?

By the way, I'm so glad you understand and like tfios.

I guess that's the end of the first installment of this adventure! DFTBA!
